The myth of animal homosexuality is a political propaganda tool!

The World of Science: Pedagogy and Psychology magazine, included in the List of Russian peer-reviewed scientific journals, approved by the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC RF) and part of the Russian Science Citation Index database, published an article that dispelled the myth of homosexuality in animals.

The article is called: The problem of anthropomorphic interpretation of animal behavior in the context of a discussion about the characteristics of human sexual behavior.

In the rhetoric of LGBT activists, one can often hear a statement that homosexuality is a kind of norm for a person, since it is supposedly observed in nature - among animals. This statement is built on the following consecutive statements:

1) homosexuality is observed among animals;
2) what animals do is natural;
3) therefore, homosexuality is natural to man.

The problem of this conclusion is that paragraph 1 represents a substitution of concepts and a biased anthropomorphic interpretation of animal behavior, and paragraph 2 is based on an extremely selective extrapolation of the phenomena of the animal world to human life.

First of all, it should be noted that among animals there is not “homosexuality” (sexual attraction to the same sex and actions based on it), but same-sex behavior, which usually has nothing to do with sexual attraction or even sexual intercourse as such. Even LGBT activist Simon LeVay, known for his brain research, admitted that “in the animal world there is no “homosexual orientation” in the human sense, and recorded episodes of homosexual behavior never lead to their replacement of heterosexual activity” (LeVay, 1996).

Researchers of animal sexual behavior note that although they use generally accepted terms to describe same-sex animal behavior, such as "homosexual", "Preference for a sexual partner" и "Sexual orientation”, These terms are not at all identical to the terms used to describe a person’s orientation, which is a much more complex phenomenon (Roselli, 2009).

According to the statement of the linguist Bruce Beigmil made in the book “Biological Abundance”, published by a publishing house specializing in homosexual literature, including pornographic, “Same-sex behavior has been documented in more than 450 animal species” (Bagemihl, 1999). In fact, in most cases, non-sexual behavior of animals in relation to individuals of their gender is described. If we talk about sexually motivated manifestations of same-sex (or rather, bisexual) behavior, then such cases are isolated.

It should be mentioned that the myth of “1500 homosexual animal species”, Immortalized in the press and taken up even by such respectable media as BBC, Time, Telegraph, DW, etc.

And even Nature magazine dropped to ARTICLES this fake.

In fact, it turned out that the figure “1500”, as one would expect, has no basis. The Norwegian zoologist Peter Beckmann, who first voiced this figure, could not provide its source and recognized its error only in 2018 year:

I’ve been looking for the second week, but I can’t find a unique list of 1500 views. I cannot conclude otherwise that I must have made a mistake when writing the original text of the exhibition, perhaps by combining two matching lists from different books, or by counting the same list twice. Thus, the actual content of the statement that “homosexuality was observed in 1500 species” made in 2002 at the opening of the exhibition was erroneous.

This refers to the exhibition organized by him in 2006 in Oslo, dedicated to the same-sex behavior of animals, which was sponsored by the state, as the formation of a tolerant attitude towards homosexuality is part of the state policy of Norway. Beckman recognized the "political motives of the exhibition" and said:

I really enjoyed using these numbers in various interviews, as it was an impressive, easy-to-remember number, with a good shocking effect, which shows that this is not just about a handful of strange cats and dogs.

Biologists note that same-sex animal behavior represents not only academic interest but it is often used in solving legal issues in people. (Bailey & Zuk, 2009). For example, at the Lawrence v. Texas trial, examples from Bruce Badgemeal's book were presented as evidence, which made it possible to repeal sodomy laws in Texas and other states.
